Wrapping Up Fall 2007 Semester
So tomorrow is the last day of fall semester. I'm certainly going to get some much needed sleep over the holiday break, but I'm going to start researching my next Design for Media project. I'm going to be detailing the entire process for this project on this blog so stay tuned.
For those interested the project will involve turning this painting by Thomas Cole, called
"Expulsion from Eden"
into a 3d environment/digital matte painting. It will have animated elements(volcano, wind in trees etc...) and I will be using live-action actors for Adam/Eve. So more to come on that...

DESIGN FOR MEDIA - FINALS
Here are the four parts of my Design for Media Problem 1 - It's a progression from a black and white graphic image up to realistic. The color charts show the color harmonies involved in each step.
Step 1. Black and White abstract graphic design
Step 2. Complimentary color scheme
Step 3. Monochromatic
Step 4. Analogous color scheme

Across the Universe movie review
So I saw Across The Universe this saturday. It's a movie based on the lyrics of Beatles music, mainly from The White Album and Revolver. The movie was wonderful. Great musical pieces, and having the lyrics be the dialouge in the film was powerful. A lot of the events in the movie are based on real events and people. From Bono playing Ken Kesey to the character Sadie playing a Janice Joplin type. The visual fx were on par and sometimes above expectation. My only beef with the movie is that the didn't do Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds in the film. The used the song in the credits. I'm not sure if they ran out of money or why they did that. But overall I'll give the movie 4 3/4 stars.

philosophy head explosion
so random thoughts. Religion (especially western religion) takes the person away from God. It allows them a shortcut. Instead of using the text to UNDERSTAND God they use it as a personal definition of God. It's like knowing what a chocolate chip cookie taste like, by reading the recipe. The bible is stated as the word of God, but it was written by man. To be continued...

Some stuff this month
This is some work I've done over the last few months.
This is the new Buckeye Fever logo which was designed in AI and then done in AFX with Invigorator.
This is a logo for a trailer for a client in Los Angeles. One of those things that probably won't ever see the light of day. Done in Photoshop. You probably can't see the detail on the small image...
This is a segment I did for the a open for the Buckeye Football Fever Pre-game show. The satellite was done in Lightwave then composited into the shot with a AFX x10 earth zoom.
